I want to tell you about some guests who are coming to our city next month. They have never been to China before and they are coming all the way from Boston in the USA. There will be 15 foreign guests altogether The guests represent a teachers’ group in Boston. They are coming here to attend a conference and give some lectures. They will also visit our school to learn more about Chinese methods of education The guests will stay here for five days in total. They will spend three days working and then they will have two days to explore our city. I’d like you to make a two-day travel plan for our guests, so that they get to see the best of what our city has to offer. I'd like you to work in groups to think about what kinds of things the guests might like to do. For example, they might want to visit our city museum to learn more about our long history. They might want to buy some souvenirs to remind them of their trip here. They might want to have a lunch or dinner at a local restaurant. Think about some restaurants that might be suitable. And if the weather is good, it might be nice to show our guests around the sights of our city on foot. Would any of you like to volunteer and show our guests around with me? Scan the travel plan about Shanghai on page 9 suggested by Ms Zhao and answer the following questions. ● What are the tourist attractions and activities suggested? ● How do the tourists travel between the tourist attractions? ● How can you improve this travel plan? 2. Key sentence Tone is the general feeling of a piece of writing. For example, writing to an official, you need to keep your tone serious and polite. When writing to a foreign guest, you need to keep your tone friendly and polite.
