二、导思

本句是一个主语从句,it是形式主语,that引导的从句是真正的主语。

考点提炼 it作形式主语,that 作真正主语的常用句型:

(1)It is hoped/announced/expected/reported/said/assumed that...据希望/宣布/期望/报道//推测……

(2)It's strange/natural/surprising/true/funny/wonderful/likely/possible that...……是奇怪的/自然的/惊奇的/真的/有趣的/很棒的/可能的

(3)It's a pity/a shame/good news/an honour/a good thing that...……真遗憾/真可惜/是好消息/很荣幸/太好了

It was reported that four men escaped from prison yesterday.据报道,昨天四个人越狱逃跑了。

②It is well­known that the earth moves around the sun.众所周知,地球绕着太阳转。

⑤It's a pity that we can't attend your birthday party.很遗憾我们不能参加你的生日聚会。

练一练:句型转换

本句是含有that引导的宾语从句的复合, meaning you could actually exercise your way to better performance at school是分词短语做状语。

分词做状语

meaning you could...v.-ing形式做伴随状语, 表示伴随情况。

He made the boys it there, promising they would not hurt him.他让那个男孩坐在那儿,保证不会伤害他。

Last night, Mike made a call to me, saying sorry for his absence from my wedding ceremony.昨晚, 迈克给我打了个电话, 对缺席我的婚礼表示歉意。

特别提醒

现在分词和过去分词做状语的区别:现在分词做状语,分词和主语是主动关系,并表示动作正在进行;过去分词做状语,分词和主语是被动关系,并表示动作已经完成。

 

3. When to eat is also of great importance. 什么时候吃也很重要。

When to eat是主语, is also of great importance是系表结构。

“of+n.”结构

is of great importance“be+of+n.”结构, 意为很重要“of+n.”在句中做表语。

His advice is _____________________________. 他的建议对我来说很宝贵。

That experience was_____________________________. 那段经历对他很有益。

归纳拓展

“of+n.”结构在句中可以做表语或后置定语。该结构根据是否有对应的形容词可以分为两类:

(1)可以转化为同根形容词的:此时,“of+名词结构用来说明句子的主语所具有的作用、重要性或意义等。

这类名词有value importance use help benefitsignificance等, 名词前可用great little some no much等来修饰, 用来说明程度。

The meeting is of great importance.=The meeting is very important.这个会议很重要。

(2)不可以转化为形容词的:此时,“of+名词"结构用来说明句子的主语在重量、大小、颜色、类别等方面的特征。

这类名词有color age size height length weightshape type quality等, 名词前可用different the same a(n) 等来修饰。

Coins maybe of different sizes, weights, shapes and metals.硬币可能在大小、重量、形状和(铸造所用的)金属方面有所不同。

(3) “be of+抽象名词结构的否定形式一般采用否定名词的做法, “be of no+名词

As far as the study of English was concerned, what he said was of no use.就学习英语而言,他所讲的并没有多少用处。
