Language points

1.think highly of ...看重/器重/高度评价

[归纳拓展]

think nothing of不把……当回事

think poorly/badly/little/ill of对……评价不高;认为……不好

speak highly of高度评价/赞扬

speak well/ill of说……的好话/坏话

think highly/well/much of 用于被动语态时,副词应置于thought of之前,即构成be highly/well/much thought of 结构。

Although he was disabled when he was only ten years old, yet he aimed high, for which his classmates thought/spoke highly of him.

尽管他仅10岁时就有了残疾,但他志向很高,为此他的同学们对他评价很高。

4.be capable of (doing) sth.有能力做某事

a strong capable woman 一个坚强能干的女人

capable hands 能手,高手(用于指具 有某种高超技艺的人)

The company is capable of expanding into a wider market. 该公司有能力拓展更广阔的市场。

5.so...that...如此……以至于…… that 引导结果状语从句。

   so 是副词,其后跟形容词或副词。

   常用结构:

            adj./adv.

            adj.+a/an +可数名词单数

so  +       many/few + 可数名词复数            + that...

            Much/little() + 不可数名词

Such ... that常用结构:         

            a/an + adj.+可数名词单数

such +       adj. + 可数名词复数                 + that...

            Adj. + 不可数名词

so lovely a girl = such a lovely girl如此可爱的一个女孩

so many students那么多的学生 such good students 那么好的学生

so/such..that... 结构中,so/such...置于句首时,句子用部分倒装。

So hot a day was it that they all went swimming.天气如此炎热,他们都去游泳了。

乒乓球是一项非常有趣的运动,我们都喜欢打乒乓球。

Table tennis is so interesting a game that we all like playing it.

Table tennis issuch an interesting game thatwe all likeplaying it.

6.It is + n. + doing sth. 做某事是……的。

It's no use doing sth.   做某事是没有用处的。

It's no pleasure doing sth. 做某事是没有乐趣的。

It's no good doing sth. 做某事是没有好处的。

It's no fun doing sth. 做某事是没有乐趣的。

It's a waste of time doing sth. 做某事是浪费时间的。

It was no use pretending that I had not seen him, so I waved to him. 装作没看见他是没有用了,我只好向他招手。

It’s no pleasure staying at home during the vacation.假期待在家里是没有乐趣的。
