Making line noodles, also known as
suo mian
in Chinese or longevity noodles, is part of regional ritual in East China"s Zhejiang province. After Start of Winter, local villagers begin to hang and air the fresh noodles – a special produce for the winter market. In recent years, the Huyuan village of Hangzhou, capital city of Zhejiang, has launched a series of events surrounding
suo mian
culture, such as festivals, workshops and art performances. This gastronomical heritage brings more income for the villagers and boosts countryside tourism. |
